Viewing live video from your application is a simple process and will allow you to see what is going on at your door when you are not home. To view live video from the NorthStar Connect application, follow the steps outlined below.
- Open the NorthStar Connect application.
- Go to the Skybell option at the bottom of the screen.
- You will be presented with a preview photo of what the doorbell camera sees. Click on the Watch Live option on this screen.

Each home will require a different motion detection setup to catch the events that you want to see. This is because the location that the SkyBell is set up in differs. There are three different motion detection sensitivity options available, and you can tailor your SkyBell to give you a better user experience by adjusting these settings from the NorthStar Connect application. To make sensitivity adjustments follow the instructions outlined below.
- Open the NorthStar Connect application. [
- Go to the Skybell option at the bottom of the screen.
- With the doorbell open on the application, click on the three bars located at the upper right hand corner of the screen.
- First, click the Motion Detection button. Make sure that Motion Detection is enable by sliding the motion detection bubble to the right.
- Under the Motion Sensitivity section, you will be prompted with three different options, Low, Medium, and High. Choose the option that you want, and that will appear on the motion sensitivity button.
- Try the options and find what option works best for your motion event needs.

If you cannot view the SkyBell from the NorthStar Connect application, it is most likely because the camera has come disconnected from the Wi-Fi in your home. First, check the Wi-Fi connection by using your phone or computer connected to the Wi-Fi to open a webpage. If the Wi-Fi in your home is not working, contact your internet service provider for assistance with the Wi-Fi.
Reboot your Wi-Fi router. To do this, simply unplug the router for about a minute, then plug it back in. Check the live view about 5 minutes after powering the router up to check for function.
If the Wi-Fi is working properly, try rebooting the Skybell. If you do not know how to do this, view our article titled "How to reboot the SkyBell camera".

The Skybell has the ability to allow you to speak with visitors at your door through the camera. To use this feature, follow the instructions outlined below.
- Open the NorthStar Connect application.
- Go to the doorbell option at the bottom of the screen.
- You will be presented with a preview photo of what the SKyBell sees. Click on the Watch Live option on this screen.
- After clicking Watch Live, you will see a live feed of what is happening at the front door. You will be able to see your visitor and interact with them by pressing the microphone icon on the screen. (Remember, when you want to hear your visitor you will need to release the microphone button once you're done speaking).

On occasion, if the camera is not working properly, it may be necessary to reboot the SkyBell camera to allow it to reconnect to the network. This is an easy process to complete.
- Go to the SkyBell.
- Press and hold the doorbell button until it starts rapid flashing blue.
- Once the Skybell starts flashing, wait for the light to go back to the color it was set to originally. Once this happens the SkyBell should be functioning properly.
- If the SkyBell does not work properly after a reset, contact Technical Support for assistance.

You can view recorded videos of motion capture events or button push events. This is an easy process and will allow you to see a history of the visitors to your home. To view these recordings follow the steps outlined below.
- Open the NorthStar Connect application.
- Go to the doorbell option at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll down and you will see a list of the recorded events that you have stored on the application. To play a recording, click on the clip you want to view and it will begin to play.
- If you have no recordings, it is probably because you have no motion capture settings set up.

The Skybell can be customized to fit your personal needs. You can change the color of the LED light to what you like. To do this, follow the steps outlined below.
- First, make sure the LED light is turned on.
- Open the NorthStar Connect application.
- Go to the doorbell option at the bottom of the screen.
- With the doorbell open on the application, click on the three bars located at the upper right hand corner of the screen.
- Now click on the LED color button.
- With the LED color option open, you will see a pop-up that will allow you to choose the color that you want. There are three different sections red, green, and blue. Using these three sliders, you can combine the colors that you want to make any color possible. Choose the combination of colors that you want, then click the back arrow at the upper left hand corner of the screen.
